What is required of volunteers?
No special skills, experience or training is required – just your presence and your enthusiasm. We will provide briefing notes and/or the opportunity to attend a pre-event briefing so you can learn all about the task assigned to you.
What is really important is that once you register as a volunteer you let us know if for some reason you cannot attend on Sunday 13 May. If you have registered as a volunteer, we are relying on you to arrive bright and early on Sunday 13 May.
How will I know what I have to do?
Once you have registered online we will contact you to let you know what task has been allocated to you and other information you need. We usually finalise this information in the two weeks leading up to the event, so it might be a little while before you hear from us… we haven’t forgotten you!
Some tasks include one or more of the following:
- Information desk
- Registration
- Tribute card distribution
- Merchandise sales
- Jumping castle supervision
- Finish line
- Number pick-up
- Clothing pick-up
- BBQ
- Showbags
- Face painting
- Drink stations

What do I need to bring?
Enthusiasm! And please remember to dress according to the weather (warm clothing, rain jacket, hat, sun cream) and wear comfortable shoes.
At volunteer registration, you will receive a t-shirt to be worn on the day, so that you can be easily recognised. Please note that as the t-shirts are donated we may run out of some sizes so please understand if you end up in something too big!
Please note: there are no secure facilities to leave personal belongings.
Where do I register as a volunteer on the day?
A volunteer registration area will be set up where you can collect your t-shirt, Mother’s Day Classic medallion, lanyard, light snack and drink.
What time do I need to be there?
The times volunteers are required to attend vary from State to State but, generally speaking, you would need to be available from 6.30am until around 11.30am.
