The Course

The circular course starts and finishes at Mindil Beach; travelling towards Lake Alexander and back along the foreshore.


Being involved and completing the Mother’s Day Classic is a challenging and rewarding experience which is further enhanced with a little preparation - for both the walking and running events. Our community training partner, parkrun, provide the perfect opportunity to get some kilometres in your legs before the big day. They organise free, weekly, 5km times all over Australia. You find one near you here.

Assembly area

Is located at Mindil Beach

Information marquees

The information marquees are located in the assembly area. We also have “ask me” volunteers in orange t-shirts. Please ask these volunteers or go to the information marquees if you are unsure of anything.

Tribute wall

Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer. Tribute cards can be downloaded from the website, requested via the registration process or collected on day from the information marquee. A special Tribute Wall will be located at the assembly area. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.

Cloak Room (bag drop)

A cloakroom will be located in the assembly area. When dropping clothing off, please use the tags provided to write your race number and attach to your backpack or clothing bag. The attendant will write the storage crate area on your race number. Please keep your race number as you will need it for bag pick up at the finish.

Please do not leave valuables in your bags. The Mother's Day Classic will take all care, but no responsibility, for valuables and clothing that are lost or damaged. Any clothing not collected on the day or left at the start line, will be donated to charity.

No Bikes or bulky items will be accepted.

First aid

First aid will be stationed close to the finish line and sports trainers will be on the course. If you require medical assistance, please notify the nearest course marshal and they will contact the appropriate personnel to assist you.

Water stations

Water will be provided at the assembly area, on the course and at the finish line. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water to ensure they have enough.


The toilets are located at Mindil Beach, next to the stage.

Meeting places

Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend meeting in the assembly area. The start line will be very crowded and a difficult meeting place.


The Mother’s Day Classic includes lots of extra activities for kids and adults. These include warm-up aerobics, a food court, roving performers, face painting, jumping castle and other information stalls.

The main stage will be used for the memorial minute silence and warm-up aerobics. There will also be spot prizes.


You will find a wide selection of food, coffee and drinks to enjoy including a Mother's Day Classic BBQ.

Prizes and trophies

All participants receive a 2017 medallion.


Age category medals

Mailed after the event 4km and 8km runs winners for each age category. Age categories - U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

Presentation ceremonies

  • The run presentation will be held at the completion of each event at the stage. Trophies will be given to first placegetters. It is expected winners are present to accept their prize.
  • Runner’s age category winners will be listed on the website and medals will be sent out to the winners within two weeks.

Trophies will also be awarded to the winners based on gun time. If you feel you have a chance of placing, please start towards the front of the group.
