Race packs, race numbers & timing

You can collect your race number on the day from the Registrations marquee - arrive early to avoid queues.

To save time on the day, you can collect your race number from The Athletes Foot at 6A/60 Elizabeth Street, Cat and Fiddle Arcade between 10am and 4pm Wednesday 10 May to Friday 12 May, or between 10am and 2pm on Saturday 13 May.

The Course

The course follows the Queens Domain. The start and finish are on the track at the Domain and will be clearly marked.

Being involved and completing the Mother’s Day Classic is a challenging and rewarding experience which is further enhanced with a little preparation - for both the walking and running events. Our community training partner, parkrun, provide the perfect opportunity to get some kilometres in your legs before the big day. They organise free, weekly, 5km times all over Australia. You find one near you here


Results will be available here on the Mother’s Day Classic website from Tuesday 16 May 2017. Remember, only runners will be timed.

Assembly area

All races will commence from the Domain Athletics Centre, Queens Domain, Hobart.

Marquees and activities will be set up within the Domain grounds.

Information marquees

There will be volunteers all over the venue on the day. Please ask these volunteers or go to the information marquees at the registration tent if you are unsure of anything. 

Tribute wall

A special Tribute Tent will be set up for those touched by breast cancer. It’s a place for survivors to meet and rest their feet, and where you can pay tribute to a loved one.

Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer. Tribute cards can be downloaded from the website, requested via the registration process or collected on day from the Registration marquee or the Tribute Tent.

A special Tribute Wall will be located inside the Tribute Tent. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.

Cloak Room (bag drop)

There is a clothing marquee to leave your clothing at the assembly area. Please don’t leave any valuables in it. 

First aid

A first aid station will be located at the assembly area.

If you require medical assistance while out on the course, please notify the nearest course marshal and they will contact the appropriate personnel to assist you. 

Water stations

Water is provided at three drink stations, two on the course and one at the finish line. 


The toilets are located within the Athletics Centre.

Meeting places

Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend choosing an easy place to find and remember e.g. the gates to the grounds, in front of the grandstand etc. The start line will be very crowded and a difficult meeting place. 


Activities such as a play zone, jumping castle, food, coffee and entertainment will be in the Domain grounds on the day.

Free entertainment

There will be free entertainment from the main stage including warm-up aerobics, live performances, and appearances from our ambassadors. There will also be loads of activities for kids.


In the assembly area you’ll find a selection of snacks and coffee carts will be available to help kick start your day.

Prizes and trophies

All participants receive a 2017 medallion.

And DRESS TO IMPRESS for a chance to win a prize for the best dressed individual.

Age category medals 

These are mailed after the event to the 4km and 8km run winners for each age category.

Age categories: U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

Runner's please note: Your results will be produced by net time. The timing chip attached to your shoe will record your official time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. However, trophies will be awarded to the first three males and females in each event based on gun time. So, if you feel you have a chance of placing, please run in the first wave of your chosen distance.
