The Perth MDC for 2016 will be at Langley Park, Riverside Drive and involves a 4km and an 8km walk or run that circuits Langley Park Reserve and part of Riverside Drive.

Enter by 9.00am on Friday 29 April 2016 to have your race number mailed to you before the event. If you enter after 9.00am on Friday 29 April 2016 you must collect your race number on the morning of the event from the number pick-up marquee. Please ensure you bring a PRINTED COPY of your entry to obtain the race pack.

Race packs, race numbers & timing

RACE PACKS

Will commence being sent out early April 2016.

Enter by 9.00am on Friday 29 April 2016 to have your race number mailed to you before the event. If you enter after 9.00am on Friday 29 April 2016 you must collect your race number on the morning of the event from the number pick-up marquee. Please ensure you bring a PRINTED COPY of your entry to obtain the race pack.

Your race pack will contain your race number and timing chip if applicable. Merchandise is sent separately. If you registered several people at once, you will not necessarily receive all the race packs on the same day as they are processed individually. If you are concerned that you have not received your race number, please contact the Perth event managers on 1300 762 241.

RACE NUMBERS

Please note that all runners and walkers need to pin their race number on the front of their top before arriving at the event. Anyone without a race number will not be permitted to start the event. Please dispose of your race bib and timing tag thoughtfully on the day.

TIMING

Only runners will be given a timing tag, which will be attached to the back of your race number. Please ensure that your timing tag is attached correctly. You will not receive a time if you do not have a timing tag.

On the day timetable

Please arrive at the assembly area at least 30 minutes prior to your event in order to allow plenty of time to register and warm up.

The Course

The Langley Park course is a nice flat course that circuits Langley Park Reserve and part of Riverside Drive. A single loop of the course is 4km in length. Those entered into the 8km events will be required to do two laps of the course.

Results

Results will be available here on the Mother’s Day Classic website from Monday 9 May 2016. Remember, only runners will be timed.

Assembly area

The Mother’s Day Classic assembly area is located at the eastern end of Langley Park (corner Plain Street and Terrace Road).

Information marquees

There is an information marquee located at the assembly area. If you have any queries please go to the information marquee.

Tribute wall

Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer. Tribute cards can be downloaded from the website, requested via the registration process or collected on day from the information marquee. A special Tribute Wall will be located within the assembly area on Langley Park. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.

Cloak Room (bag drop)

A cloak room will be located within the assembly area in Langley Park. Participants will be able to store outer clothing during the event and collect once they have finished.

Please use the tear off strip from your race number to attach to your backpack or clothing bag.

Please do not place valuables in clothing storage as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.

First aid

A first aid station will be located at the finish line near Plain Street for those requiring emergency medical assistance.

If you require medical assistance whilst out on the course, please notify the nearest course marshal and they will contact the appropriate personnel to assist.

Water stations

Water will be provided at drink stations located around the course and near the finish line on Langley Park.

Toilets

Toilets will be located within the assembly area on Langley Park.

Baby change

There will be a baby change and feed marquee in the main assembly area.

Meeting places

Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend meeting in the assembly area. The start line will be very crowded and a difficult meeting place.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Viva Photography are the official event photographer of the Perth Mother's Day Classic. 

Entertainment

A number of delegates, celebrities and sponsors will be appearing/presenting on the main stage. The main stage will also be used for the memorial minute of silence, warm-up aerobics and run presentations.

Food

A range of hot and cold food and beverages will be available on Langley Park before, during and after the race.

Getting there

With several road closures in place in and around Langley Park, catching a bus, train or ferry, or even riding your bike is the most convenient way to make it to the event.

ROAD CLOSURES

Road closures will be in place from 5:30am on Sunday 8 May 2016. Full road closures will be in place for Riverside Drive between the Causeway and Barrack Streets, and Victoria Avenue and Plain Street between Riverside Drive and Terrace Road.

Train

Ferry

Ferries from Mends Street Jetty (South Perth) depart every 20 minutes from 8:00am until 8:40am, then every 30 minutes from 8:40am until 4:00pm. The last ferry departs at 7:36pm.
Ferries from Barrack Street Jetty depart every 30 minutes from 9:20am until 3:45pm.

Parking

  • City of Perth Parking facilities located at Point Fraser (bordering Riverside Drive and the Causeway where the bike hire is located) and Terrace Road (bordered by Riverside Drive and Victoria Avenue).
    • Point Fraser - $2.80 per hour (Sunday rate)
    • Terrace Road - $3.10 per hour (Sunday rate)
  • Ticketed street parking is available along Terrace Road. Free parking is available on Bennett and adjacent streets, however cannot be guaranteed as they are available to the general public at all times. 
  • For those with a valid Acrod sticker, the City of Perth Parking facilities offer up to two hours free parking for people with accessibility requirements.

Bike

There are sufficient places to lock your bike securely at Langley Park. The closest bike racks are located at the City of Perth Parking's Point Fraser car park. Please ensure that you bring your own bike lock as bikes are not permitted to be stored in the cloak room.

The Mother’s Day Classic will not be responsible for any bikes stolen from the event.

NOTE: Please ensure you allow sufficient time to arrive at your destination, make any necessary connecting transfers, walk to Langley Park, collect any race equipment and warm up prior to the commencement of your event.

Prizes and trophies

All participants receive a 2016 medallion, which cleverly converts to a key ring.

Presentation ceremonies

The placegetter presentation ceremony will be take place on the main stage at 9.10am. Team trophies will be awarded on the main stage at 10.00am.

Age category medals

Mailed after the event 4km and 8km runs winners for each age category. Age categories - U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.

Runner's please note: Your results will be produced by net time. The timing tag attached to your race bib will record your official time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. However, trophies will be awarded to the first three males and females in each event based on gun time. So, if you feel you have a chance of placing, please run in the first wave of your chosen distance.

SPOT PRIZES

All participants are eligible to win great spot prizes throughout the day, including weekend getaway packages, meal vouchers, gift baskets and more. Spot prizes will be available for collection from the information marquee.

Questions?

Can I change the event I am in?

Yes, but you must let us know via email at perth@solemotive.com or phone on 1300 762 241. If you decide to change your event on the day, please go to the number pick-up marquee so they can record the change. See below for requirements of changing events.

Changing from walk to run – It is imperative you let us know as you need to be issued with a new event number and a timing tag. You will be charged an additional $10 for your new race number and/or timing tag (please note it is mandatory that all runners have a timing tag attached to their race bib).

Changing from run to walk – Please let us know as we will need to update your records, however you will keep the same race number even though it has a timing tag attached to the back.

Changing distances only:

Run – It is imperative you let us know as we will need to update our records. You will retain the same race number and timing tag.

Walk – No need to advise us, just depart at the correct walk start time and complete either one or two laps of the course, according to your distance chosen.

Please note, if we are required to change you registration information for a change of event, you will be charged a $5 administration fee. 

What if I lose my race number or timing tag?

Walkers - Please collect another race number from the number pick-up marquee in the assembly area at Langley Park on the morning of the event for an additional fee of $5.

Runners – Please collect another race number with timing tag attached from the number pick-up marquee in the assembly area at Langley Park on the morning of the event. There will be an additional charge of $10 total for replacement of the race number + timing tag.

All participants must wear a race number. Anyone without a race number will not be permitted to start the event.
