The Albury-Wodonga event offers a 5km walk and a 5km run.

If you can not participate, you can come along and support all walkers and runners and join in the entertainment and activity taking place around the course!

Race packs, race numbers & timing

This regional event has a relaxed feel and will not have electronic timing, and hence no race packs or bibs are required to be collected by participants.

You can just turn up on the day and walk or run!

8.00am On-the-day registrations opens
9.30am On-the-day registrations close
9.30am Official welcome
9.50am Warm up
10.00am 5km run starts
10.05am 5km walk starts

The Course

The course is flat and swings around the lake at the gardens. It then crosses under the Hume Freeway and along the Wodonga stock route, returning along the same stock route to move along Reuss Road and back to the start/finish line.

The assembly area is in the vicinity of the main car park. Order of assembly: runners at the front, then walkers, followed by families with prams. Young cyclists are discouraged from being on the course. 

The event will be under the supervision of track marshals.


A Certificate of Participation will be available here on the Mother’s Day Classic website from Tuesday 16 May, 2017 for you to download and print!

Event day

There will be a:

  • Brave Hearts on the Murray testimonial
  • Memorial minute of silence
  • Race warm up and briefing for participants
  • Presentation


Tribute cards

Remember to fill in a tribute card to wear on the day in memory of a loved one or with words of encouragement to someone currently undergoing treatment. Create your tribute card here.


There will be music by PJ Entertainment, face painting, Rotary BBQ, Coffee Van and stalls and promotional bags.

Getting there

Entrance to Sumsion Gardens is via Huon Street which is three blocks north of the city centre and one block from High Street.

Car parking is limited in the main car park, so participants can park on Church Street or the east side of High Street.

Prizes and trophies

There will be prizes for:

  • Overall winners
  • Pinkest team
  • Fastest family (of more than four members)

Whilst we endeavour to provide all participants a 2017 medallion, which cleverly converts to a key ring and lanyard, they are subject to availability.
