The Port Hedland event offers a 4km walk and a 6km timed run (80 spots only).

If you cannot participate, you can come along and support all walkers and runners and join in the entertainment and acivity taking place around the course!

Race packs, race numbers & timing

With only 80 timed run spots available, participants must pre-register for their race to be timed. Timing chips and race numbers will be available for pick up on the day for pre-registered runners.

Participants who do not wish to be timed can still participate in the 6km run. 

On the day timetable

6:30am On-the-day registrations open (cash only) 
7:00am Official welcome/minute silence
7:15am On-the-day registrations close
7:25am 6km run starts
7:30am 4km walk starts

The Course

4km walk - The walk will commence at the Civic Centre Gardens and head along Sutherland Street towards Cooke Point. There will be a turnaround point near Keesing Street. Walkers will then head back to the Civic Centre Gardens along the same route.

6km run - The run will commence at the Civic Centre Gardens and head along Sutherland, Howe and Kingsmill streets towards the West End. There will be a turnaround point near Crowe Street. Runners will then head back to the Civic Centre Gardens along the same route.

A Certificate of Participation will be available here on the Mother’s Day Classic website from Tuesday 16 May 2017 for you to download and print!

Results for the 6km timed run will be published on the Town of Port Hedland website and Facebook page following the event. 

Event day

Participants in the 6km timed run are encouraged to arrive with plenty of time to register and receive their timing chips before the run commences.  


Tribute cards

Remember to fill in a tribute card to wear on the day in memory of a loved one or with words of encouragement to someone currently undergoing treatment. Create your tribute card here.


Come along in your best pink outfit for a morning of fun!

After the walk/run make sure you browse the local market stalls, enjoy a bite to eat and spend the morning with your family and friends.

Family friendly activities include a kids corner and face painter. New to this years event is a short yoga/meditation session with Lavender & Lime Yoga to be held at 9.00am following the walk/run and presentations.  

Getting there

Parking is available at the Civic Centre.

  • 1st Place Male Runner
  • 1st Place Female Runner
  • Highest individual fundraiser 
  • Highest fundraising team

Whilst we endeavour to provide all participants a 2017 medallion, they are subject to availability.
