Holding a Mother's Day Classic event is a wonderful way to show support and solidarity to those in the community dealing with breast cancer. The diagnosis is tough for anyone, but there can be extra challenges for rural and regional patients including the financial burden and strain of having to travel thousands of kilometres for chemotherapy and specialist treatment.
You don’t have to live in a capital city to be part of this nationwide community event – you can set up your own Mother’s Day Classic event in your town, no matter how big or small! All you need is a local park or circuit, some walking shoes and a group of people to come together to raise money for a great cause.

Breast cancer is one of the most commonly occurring cancers in Australian women, and holding a Mother’s Day Classic in your local area is a great way to show your community’s support to the women and their families who are coping with a diagnosis.
Community organisations, athletics clubs and schools are all welcome to participate, and there is no set distance. Most events have a 4km walk, but some also host a run. Local organisers have until 24 March, 2017 to register to host a Mother's Day Classic walk or run in their town. Community organisations, athletics clubs and schools are all welcome to participate.
