The Perth event involves a 4km and 8km walk and run around Langley Park. For more details on the Perth event and registration closing dates see the information below.

If running and walking isn't your thing you can still join in the fun of the day by volunteering to help out.

Alternatively, you can come along and support all walkers and runners and join in the entertainment and activity taking place around the course. All participants are in the running for spot prizes, given out around the course on the day.

If you are entering as part of a team and each member is paying individually, please enter via the online registration system. The first team member to register (usually the team coordinator) will be required to create the team during registration. Once this is done (and the individual who is creating the team has paid for their registration) the team name will automatically appear in the team drop down box when “team” is selected by new team members when they are registering. Make sure you give all potential team members the name and correct spelling of the team you have set up. Please ensure your team members select your team name when prompted to do so. It is imperative that this is done during the registration process.

Corporate Team registration is now closed. If you have entered a corporate team, please finalise your entries by COB Wednesday April 9.  You can still have a team, and have participants pay for themselves by setting up a team during the normal registration process. You will come to a page asking - "Do you want to join or create a team".

Event information kit: 

Your race pack will include: race number, timing tag (runner’s only), and tribute card (if requested during registration).

* Runner’s please note: your timing tag will be attached to the back of your race number.

Race packs will commence to be sent out from the week commencing Tuesday 1 April 2014.

Each entrant will receive their own race pack. If you entered a number of people at the same address then each person will be mailed their own race kit.
* Please note that the individual race packs may arrive on different days even if you registered at the same time.

A race pack with your race number will be mailed to all participants whose registration is received by 9:00am on Friday 2 May 2014.

If you register after 9:00am on Friday 2 May 20142013 you will need to collect your race number at the number pick up marquee from 7:00am onwards on the morning of the event.

Please note that merchandise will be mailed separately to the race packs.


Runners will be given a timing tag that is attached to the back of their race number.

Please attach your race number to the front of your chest prior to starting the event. The timing tag on the back of the race number will be activated once you cross the start line.

You are NOT required to return your race number or timing tag after the event – please dispose of it thoughtfully.

Start times: 

Please arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your event in order to allow plenty of time to register and warm up.

The course: 

'The Langley Park course is a nice flat course that circuits Langley Park Reserve and part of Riverside Drive. A single loop of the course is 4km in length. Those entered into the 8km events will be required to do two laps of the course.

Getting there: 

Take advantage of several transport options in and out of the city for this year’s Mother’s Day Classic.

With several road closures in place in and around Langley Park, catching a bus, train or ferry, or even riding your bike is the most convenient way to make it to the event.

Road Closures

Road closures will be in place from 5:30am on Sunday 11 May 2014. Full road closures will be in place for Riverside Drive between the Causeway and Barrack Streets, and Victoria Avenue and Plain Street between Riverside Drive and Terrace Road. Train

All train lines service the Perth train station at the following times on Sunday:

Thornlie/Armadale Line        

  • Services to the city every 30 minutes from 7:16am, then every 15 minutes from 8:16am
  • Services from the city every 7/8 minutes from 8:00am to 8:00pm

Fremantle Line                       

  • Services to the city every 30 minutes from 7:30am, then every 15 minutes from 9:10am
  • Services from the city every 15 minutes from 7:57am until 6:30pm

Joondalup Line                       

  • Services to the city every 30 minutes from 6:48am to 7:27am, then every 15 minutes from 7:27am to 7:15pm
  • Services from the city every 15 minutes from 7:25am until 7:40pm

Mandurah Line                      

  • Services to the city commence at 6:37am and run every 15 minutes from 7:07am until 6:52pm.
  • Services from the city commence 7:22am and run every 15 minutes from 8:16am.

Midland Line                          

  • Services to the city every 30 minutes from 8:00am, then every 15 minutes from 9:00am
  • Services from the city every 7-10 minutes from 6:35am until 6:00pm

Ferries from Mends Street Jetty (South Perth) depart every 20 minutes from 8:00am until 8:40am, then every 30 minutes from 8:40am until 4:00pm. The last ferry departs at 7:36pm.

Ferries from Barrack Street Jetty depart every 30 minutes from 9:20am until 3:45pm.

For those needing to drive to the event, the two parking facilities with the best access to the event are the open air City of Perth Parking facilities located at Point Fraser (bordering Riverside Drive and the Causeway where the bike hire is located) and Terrace Road (bordered by Riverside Drive and Victoria Avenue).

Point Fraser - $2.50 per hour (including Sundays)

Terrace Road - $2.80 per hour (including Sundays)

Free parking is available on Bennett and adjacent streets, however cannot be guaranteed as they are available to the general public at all times. For those with a valid Acrod sticker, the City of Perth Parking facilities offer up to two hours free parking for people with accessibility requirements. For more information, visit .


There are sufficient places to lock your bike securely at Langley Park. The closest bike racks are located at the City of Perth Parking's Point Fraser car park. Please ensure that you bring your own bike lock as bikes are not permitted to be stored in the cloak room.

The Mother’s Day Classic will not be responsible for any bikes stolen from the event.

NOTE: Please ensure you allow sufficient time to arrive at your destination, make any necessary connecting transfers, walk to Langley Park, collect any race equipment and warm up prior to the commencement of your event.

Timing tags

Timing tags will be included in the event kits that will be mailed to all runners who enter by 9:00am on Friday 2 May 2014.

Runners who enter after 9:00am on Friday 2 May 2014 will need to collect their race number and timing tag on the morning of the event from the race number collection marquee located in the assembly area.

Race numbers

Race numbers will be mailed out to all participants who enter by 9:00am on Friday 2 May 2014.

Participants who enter after 9:00am on Friday 2 May 2014 will need to collect their race number on the morning of the event from the race number collection marquee located in the assembly area.

Anyone without a race number will not be permitted to start the event.

Please note that the race number and timing tag do not need to be returned so please dispose of them thoughtfully.

Assembly area  

The Mother’s Day Classic assembly area is located at the western end of Langley Park (corner Victoria Avenue and Terrace Road).

Warm Up Activities

Warming up before your event is vital to avoid accident and injury. Our very own Mother’s Day Classic fitness experts will be on the main stage 10 minutes prior to the commencement of each event to ensure you are ready to race.

First aid

A first aid station will be located at the finish line on the Riverside Drive side of Langley Park for those requiring emergency medical assistance.

If you require medical assistance whilst out on the course, please notify the nearest course marshal and they will contact the appropriate personnel to assist.

Water stations

Water will be provided at drink stations located around the course and near the finish line on the Riverside Drive side of Langley Park.

Please remember to consume plenty of fluids prior to commencing your designated event, and to replenish in the hours following your event to minimise physical symptoms associated with dehydration.

Clothing storage

A cloak room will be located within the assembly area in Langley Park. Participants will be able to store outer clothing during the event and collect once they have finished.

Please use the tear off strip from your race number to attach to your backpack or clothing bag.

Please do not place valuables in clothing storage as we cannot accept responsibility for valuables lost or stolen.

Food court

A range of hot and cold food and beverages will be available on Langley Park before, during and after the race.

Safety at the event

For safety reasons please DO NOT bring dogs, rollerblades, skateboards or bikes on the course.

Prams are permitted on course, however to ensure safety of all participants and small children, participants pushing prams are asked to position themselves towards the back of the starting line.

Activities at the event: 

The Mother’s Day Classic includes lots of extra activities for kids and adults.

Roving street performers, a dedicated kid’s entertainment area with face painting and bouncy castles, music and free massages will keep those not participating entertained all morning.


All participants receive a 2014 medallion, which cleverly converts to a key ring and lanyard.

Male and female winners of the 8km run will be presented a trophy on stage at 9.05am.

Male and female winners of the 4km run will be presented a trophy on stage at 9.05am.

Age category winners for both the 4km and 8km run event will be listed on the website on Tuesday 13 May. Medals will be mailed to first, second and third placegetters in each age category within two weeks of the event concluding. Age categories - U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.

Trophies will be awarded to the largest teams in the following categories:

  • Large corporate team (over 100 employees)
  • Small corporate team (less than 100 employees
  • School team sponsored by NGS Super.
  • Tertiary team sponsored by UniSuper
  • Community groups and clubs team sponsored by Realmark.
  • Family and friends team
  • Largest gym/personal fitness/wellbeing team

All participants are eligible to win great spot prizes throughout the day, including weekend getaway packages, meal vouchers, gift baskets and more. Spot prizes will be available for collection from the main stage.

Tribute wall: 

Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer. Tribute cards can be downloaded from the website, ordered when you register for the event or collected on day from the information marquee.

A special Tribute Wall will be located next to the main stage. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.

Results and certificates: 

Results and timing for the Mother’s Day Classic will be available on on Tuesday 13 May.

Participants may also print out an official certificate from the website.

Please note that walkers will not be timed.

Presentation ceremonies

The presentation ceremonies will be presented on stage at 9.05am with trophies awarded to teams and first placegetters in the 8km and 4km run events.

Important information: 
  • No pets, rollerblades, skateboards or bikes are permitted on the course. Prams are permitted, but please start towards the back of the group.
  • There will be a large number of people at the event, so make sure you use the meeting points provided.
  • Ensure you keep an eye on your children and organise specific points to meet before the event in case someone gets lost.
  • Be aware that you are a pedestrian on public roads and please follow instructions from race officials.
  • Please remember to dress according to the weather (warm clothing, rain jacket, hat and sunscreen) and wear comfortable shoes.

Days to event
