Register now to walk or run in the Mother's Day Classic

Entries are open for the annual Women in Super Mother's Day Classic walk and run for breast cancer research. Join thousands of Australians who will give the gift of research on Mother’s Day by walking, running, volunteering and fundraising on Sunday 8 May.

“Every year we see the difference this event makes to people’s lives, from the funds raised for the National Breast Cancer Foundation’s research projects to the support the event provides to women and families touched by this disease,” said Louise Davidson, National Chair of the Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic.

“We encourage everyone to walk, run or volunteer and fundraise for the Mother’s Day Classic by entering online and joining us for a memorable morning on Mother’s Day.”

With more than 100,000 people expected to walk or run, the Mother’s Day Classic is now Australia’s largest national charity event, involving communities in seven capital cities and at least 25 metropolitan and regional locations across the country.

Mother’s Day Classic events will be held in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney CBD plus metro towns and regional locations including Ballarat, Bendigo, Denmark, Geelong, Horsham, Gold Coast, Parramatta and Wollongong.

The walk or run is open to people of all fitness levels. Families and friends come together for a walk in the park, and runners put on their joggers for their first-ever fun run or to beat their personal best. Large and small teams, wearing creative costumes also add to the day.

Since the first event in 1998, the Mother’s Day Classic has raised $7.8 million for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and created a Mother’s Day tradition that raises awareness about a disease that affects one in nine Australian women.

On the day, participants wear tribute cards with personal messages dedicated to loved ones diagnosed with, or lost to breast cancer. The thousands of dedications are a poignant reminder that breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among women. This year, participants will also be able to share their personal tributes on the Mother's Day Classic’s new online tribute wall.

The Mother’s Day Classic is organised by Women in Super, a group of women in the superannuation and finance industries. ME Bank has been the proud major sponsor of the event since 2005. “ME Bank is pleased to be associated with such a positive and progressive community event. Each year, many of our staff and their families get involved by participating or volunteering behind the scenes” said ME Bank CEO, Jamie McPhee.
