Becoming a committee member

Under the leadership of the Chair and with guidance from the National MDC office, the local committees are responsible for areas such as:

  • Participation – recruiting and motivating teams and groups to register for the event
  • On-the-day volunteer management
  • PR and media
  • Organising key on-the-day vendors
  • Source local sponsors for the event
  • Managing the stage / MCs / VIPs / entertainers

Committees generally meet once a month from October and more frequently in the lead up to the event. Your time commitment would be approximately 8 hours per month.

The benefits

Volunteering for the Mother’s Day Classic has a range of personal and professional benefits:

  • Help to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer research
  • Make an impact in the lives of those touched by breast cancer
  • Learn valuable new job skills across event management, communication, sponsorship, fundraising and leadership
  • Expand your professional network through Industry Super and non-industry companies.

Organisations

Organisations that are actively involved in the broader community see a number of benefits including long term sustainability, recognition as an employer of choice, increased staff morale, opportunities for staff professional and personal development, plus increased brand recognition and reputation within the community, improved ties with clients, access to new networks and so much more!

The Mother’s Day Classic offers more than brand engagement. We provide ways for organisations to meet their objectives as a business whilst supporting a worthy cause and making an impact on the lives of their staff and those battling breast cancer.
