Minute of silence:
A minute of silence will be held prior to the walk/run. For those hoping to take part in this memorable moment, please look out for the event schedule which will be released closer to the event date.
A moment to honour and recognise a special group of people. Those touched by breast cancer – survivors, friends and family. A moment not to be missed – come one, come all. This experience will take place at the beginning of the walk. If you are a runner, please feel free to come down and share in this moment and provide your support.
What to bring
To ensure you have the best possible experience read through our checklist of suggested things to bring on the day!
– Sunscreen/ hat
– Rain jacket/umbrella
– Comfortable running or walking gear
– Coins for activities with fundraising
– Your race number (or pick it up on the day)
– Water bottle
– Your mobile phone (fully charged so you can capture all those #MDC2020 memories!)
Located at Mindil Beach.
The information marquees are located in the assembly area. We also have “ask me” volunteers in orange t-shirts. Please ask these volunteers or go to one of the information marquees if you are unsure of anything.
Tribute cards can be downloaded here. A special Tribute Wall will be located at the event. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.
A cloakroom will be located in the assembly area. When dropping clothing off, please use the tags provided to write down your race number and attach to your backpack/clothing bag. The attendant will write the storage crate area on your race number. Please keep your race number as you will need it for bag pick up at the finish.
Please do not leave valuables in your bags. The Mother’s Day Classic will take all care, but no responsibility for valuables and clothing that are lost or damaged. Any clothing not collected on the day or left at the start line will be donated to charity. No Bikes or bulky items will be accepted.
First aid will be stationed close to the finish line and sports trainers will be on the course. If you require medical assistance, please notify the nearest course marshal and they will contact the appropriate personnel to assist you.
Water will be provided at the assembly area, on the course and at the finish line. Participants are encouraged to bring their own water to ensure they have enough.
The toilets are located at Mindil Beach, next to the stage.
Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend meeting in the assembly area. The start line will be very crowded and a difficult meeting place.

All participants receive a medallion and a number of trophies will be awarded on the day.

AGE CATEGORY MEDALS
Medals will be mailed after the event to 4km and 8km run winners for each age category. Age categories – U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
The run presentation will be held at the completion of each event at the stage. Trophies will be given to first placegetters. It is expected that winners are present to accept their prize. Runner’s age category winners will be listed on the website and medals will be sent out to the winners within two weeks.
Trophies will also be awarded to the winners based on gun time. If you feel you have a chance of placing, please start towards the front of the group.
