Runner’s please note: Your results will be produced by net time. The timing tag attached to your race bib will record your official time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. However, trophies will be awarded to the first male and female in each running event based on gun time. So, if you feel you have a chance of placing, please start towards the front.

Minute of Silence:
A minute of silence will be held prior to the walk/run. For those hoping to take part in this memorable moment, please look out for the event schedule which is released closer to the event date.
A moment to honour and recognise a special group of people. Those touched by breast cancer – survivors, friends and family. A moment not to be missed – come one, come all. This experience will take place at the beginning of the walk. If you are a runner, please feel free to come down and share in this moment and provide your support. Further details regarding survivor wave will be made available closer to the event date.

2018 Event Precinct
Information marquee An information board and Info Desk are located near the start line. Please ask these volunteers or go to the information boards or marquee if you are unsure of anything.
Tribute wall Tribute cards can be downloaded here. A special Tribute Wall will be located at the event. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.
A gear tent will be located next to the registration tent. We do not accept responsibility for lost or stolen items, so please do not put any valuables into storage. You will need your event bib number to collect your items after you have finished your event.
Safety at the event
For safety reasons, no bikes/skateboards/rollerblades/scooters/dogs are allowed on course. Prams are permitted but people pushing prams are encouraged to start at the back of the pack.
Medical personnel will be at the finish line and on the course. Please notify a course marshal or event personnel if you experience any difficulties or see another participant having trouble finishing the walk or run.
Three drink stations will be positioned along the Mother’s Day Classic course. The 4km walkers and runners will have two opportunities to collect water, and the 8km runners and walkers will have four opportunities to collect water. * Drink station 1 – at the 2.1km mark, accessible by both 4km and 8km events * Drink station 2 – at the 3.2km mark, accessible by both 4km and 8km events; and at the 7.3km mark on the way back for 8km event * Drink station 3 – at the 5.4km mark, accessible by 8km event only.
A council toilet block is located near the finish line and additional portable toilets will be positioned at the start line.
Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend meeting in the assembly area. The start or finish line will be very crowded and a difficult meeting place.
The Mother’s Day Classic includes lots of extra activities for kids and adults. These include warm up aerobics run by Belinda Norton from Blivewear, performers such as IKIN Dance and Mega Cheer, food stands, free massage, Best Dressed Competition, plus a kids’ activity area.
Kids Zone: The Mother’s Day Classic includes lots of fun family activities that can be enjoyed by all. These include:
Jumping Castle from Astro Jump Oz
Gecko Sports – aimed at ages 5 to 13 years, get involved in multi sports, fun fitness, games and activities
Ready Steady Go Kids – aimed at ages 1.5 to 6 years, introducing the fundamentals of different sports
My Athletix – aimed at ages 3 to 12 years, to brush up on those skills and fitness
The Gold Coast Suns and QLD AFL running the Radar Kick Tunnel – aimed at all ages, even the parents can join in!
The start line stage will be used for the memorial minute silence and warm-up aerobics.
Presentations will commence on the main stage in the event venue at approximately 9.00am or when the last participant has crossed the finish line.
Coffee carts and a sausage sizzle will be on offer, plus more!
Parking is available in the side streets in the Broadbeach areas. However if you chosse to park on the street please obey all parking restrictions as per normal. Please note road closures will be in place for the event, so if you need to leave early we advise you to park outside the road closure area. There are also large parking facilities nearby at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibitor Centre, the Star Gold Coast and Broadbeach Shopping Centre.

Please be aware that Hedges Ave, Albatross Ave and some sections of Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach Blvd, Queensland Ave, Australia Ave and Britannia Ave will be closed to traffic starting from 5.30am. Please take this into consideration when arranging transport to and from the event site.
