4km walk, 4km run, 8km walk, 8km run.
The 4km course heads north from Pratten Park for a short distance before looping around and heading south down to Ventura Road at Mermaid Beach; then returning northbound to Pratten Park. The 8km course heads north from Pratten Park for a short distance before looping around, heading south towards Nobby’s Beach Surf Club; then returning northbound to Pratten Park.

A moment to honour and recognise a special group of people. Those touched by breast cancer – survivors, friends and family. A moment not to be missed – come one, come all. This experience will take place at the beginning of the walk. If you are a runner, please feel free to come down and share in this moment and provide your support.
Random Spot Prizes:
Our wonderful Mother’s Day Classic volunteer team will be handing out spot prizes throughout the morning.
What to bring
To ensure you have the best possible experience read through our checklist of suggested things to bring on the day!
– Sunscreen/ hat
– Rain jacket/umbrella
– Comfortable running or walking gear
– Coins and/or EFTPOS card for on the day activities, fundraising activities and to purchase event merchandise or Mother’s Day flowers
– Your race number (or pick it up on the day)
– Water bottle
– Your mobile phone (fully charged so you can capture all those #MDC2019 memories!)
An information board and Info Desk will be located near the start line. Please ask these volunteers or go to the information boards/marquee if you are unsure of anything.
Tribute cards can be downloaded here. A special Tribute Wall will be located at the event. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.
A gear tent will be located next to the registration tent. We do not accept responsibility for lost or stolen items, so please do not put any valuables into storage. You will need your event race number to collect your items after you have finished your event.
Safety at the event
For safety reasons, no bikes/skateboards/rollerblades/scooters/dogs are allowed on course. Prams are permitted but people pushing prams are encouraged to start at the back of the pack.
Medical personnel will be at the finish line and on the course. Please notify a course marshal or event personnel if you experience any difficulties or see another participant having trouble finishing the walk or run.
Three drink stations will be positioned along the Mother’s Day Classic course. The 4km walkers and runners will have two opportunities to collect water, and the 8km runners and walkers will have four opportunities to collect water.
Drink station 1 – at the 2.1km mark, accessible by both 4km and 8km events
Drink station 2 – at the 3.2km mark, accessible by both 4km and 8km events; and at the 7.3km mark on the way back for 8km event
Drink station 3 – at the 5.4km mark, accessible by 8km event only
A council toilet block is located near the finish line and additional portable toilets will be positioned at the start line.
Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend meeting away from the registration and start line areas as these places are very busy pre-race.
On the day entertainment & activities
Food & Entertainment
The Mother’s Day Classic event includes lots of extra activities for all to enjoy such as dance groups, sponsor product giveaways, coffee cart, and a BBQ.
Our children’s activity area hosts lots of fun family activities including face painting, kids athletics, inflatable bowling, and more!
Presentations will commence on the main stage at approximately 9.15 am or when the last participant has crossed the finish line.
Parking is available in the side streets of the Broadbeach areas. However, if you chose to park on the street please obey all parking restrictions as per normal. Please note road closures will be in place for the event, so if you need to leave early we advise you to park outside the road closure area. There are also large parking facilities nearby at the Gold Coast Convention & Exhibitor Centre, the Star Gold Coast and Broadbeach Shopping Centre.

Please be aware that Hedges Ave, Albatross Ave and some sections of Old Burleigh Road, Broadbeach Blvd, Queensland Ave, Australia Ave and Britannia Ave will be closed to traffic starting from 5.30 am. Please take this into consideration when arranging transport to and from the event site.

AGE CATEGORY MEDALS
Medals will be mailed after the event to 4km and 8km run winners for each age category. Age categories – U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
Runner’s please note: Your results will be produced by net time. The timing tag attached to your race number will record your official time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. However, trophies will be awarded to the first male and female in each running event based on gun time. So, if you feel you have a chance of placing, please start towards the front.
