The course follows the roads around the Royal Botanic Gardens, with the finish line on St Kilda Road. The start line is on Alexandra Avenue, near the Pillars of Wisdom. Both the run and walk events go in a clockwise direction around the circuit.
The 4km and 8km runs are staggered separately to the 4km and 8km walks.

Minute of Silence:
A minute of silence will be held prior to the walk/run. For those hoping to take part in this memorable moment, please look out for the event schedule which is released closer to the event date.
A moment to honour and recognise a special group of people. Those touched by breast cancer – survivors, friends and family. A moment not to be missed – come one, come all. This experience will take place at the beginning of the walk. If you are a runner, please feel free to come down and share in this moment and provide your support.

What to bring
To ensure you have the best possible experience read through our checklist of suggested things to bring on the day!
Your race number / or pick it up on the day (bring your confirmation email with your QR code)- Sunscreen/ hat

Coins and/or EFTPOS card for on the day activities, fundraising activities and to purchase event merchandise

Water bottle (refill your drink bottle at the South East Water Hydration Station)
Your mobile phone (Fully charged so you can capture all those #MDC2020 memories!)
Assembly area Is located at Alexandra Gardens. Please follow instructions from event staff for directions to the start line or ask one of our friendly volunteers wearing information T-shirts for assistance if required.
The information marquees are located at various sites throughout the assembly area in Alexandra Gardens, and at the start line and finish line. Please go to the information marquees if you are unsure of anything.
Tribute wall Tribute cards can be downloaded here. A special Tribute Wall will be located at the event. Participants can choose to pin their tribute cards to the wall after their run or walk.
The Langham Melbourne Cloak Room (Baggage storage)
There is a baggage storage marquee on site near the start (watch out for the sign) where you can leave your clothing. Please do not leave any valuables in the storage area as we will not be responsible for valuable goods lost or stolen. You can place your bikes on the fence with security locks.
First Aid There are two first aid stations on the course, positioned at the 2km/6km mark and the 3km/7km mark, as well as roving first aid bike crews. There are also first aid stations at the assembly area and the finish area.
If you require medical assistance while out on the course, please notify the nearest course marshal and they will contact the appropriate personnel to assist you.
Water Stations Water will be provided on the course, and at the finish line. In the event precinct you can refill your drink bottle at the hydration station.
Toilets are located on Boathouse Drive, adjacent to the boatsheds. There will also be toilets located on Alexandra Avenue, just past Swan Street Bridge, on the way to the start line. A small number of toilets will also be located on the course.
There will be a baby change and feed marquee in the main assembly area.
Be sure you arrange a clear meeting place for your family or team. We recommend meeting in the assembly area. The start line will be very crowded and a difficult meeting place.
On the day entertainment & activities
Main stage A number of delegates, celebrities and sponsors will be giving brief talks on the main stage. The main stage will also be used for the warm-up aerobics and special guests and performers.
A number of activities will be available within the kids zone for all age groups. More information will be available soon!
Springfree will be joining us on the day with a display of trampolines for the kids to try out! All MDC participants also have the opportunity to WIN a Springfree Trampoline + free delivery Australia wide – simply head to the Springfree website to put your name in the draw.
Available will be coffee carts and food vendors.

Disembark at Flinders Street Station and take the Swanston Street exit from the station and turn right. Marshals will be present to direct you to the assembly area at Alexandra Gardens. You can also disembark at Richmond Station and walk up Swan Street to the start line.
TRAM Tram numbers 3, 5, 6, 8, 16, 64, 67 & 72 all travel down St Kilda Road. Disembark at the Arts Centre and cross the road to Alexandra Gardens.
Bicycle parking will be available east of the River slide Skate Park. Please bring a lock. We cannot accept responsibility for bikes lost or stolen.

Age category medals
Mailed after the event 4km and 8km runs winners for each age category. Age categories – U15, U18, 18-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+.
The run presentation ceremonies will be held at the completion of each running event at the main stage. Trophies will be given to first, second and third placegetters. It is expected that winners are present to accept their trophy and prize.
Runner’s please note: Your results will be produced by net time. The timing tag attached to your race bib will record your official time from when you cross the start line until you cross the finish line. However, trophies will be awarded to the first three males and females in each event based on gun time. So, if you feel you have a chance of placing, please run in the first wave of your chosen distance.
