VIC - Melbourne - Docklands

We are delighted to announce a Mother's Day Classic Local Location at Docklands, Melbourne!
Local locations will be smaller and more informal compared to traditional MDC events, but they will be big on community spirit!

Where: Docklands Park

Docklands is a modern harbour development dominated by high-rises and the colourful Melbourne Star Observation Wheel, and popular for its shopping and waterside dining. The area's pedestrian plazas are adorned with public murals, sculpture and light displays. The Docklands Park course is a return run, starting from Docklands Park, using the Capital City Trail, crossing over Navigation Drive and Collins Street, to run along the Yarra River Esplanade to the end of the Esplanade and then to return to Docklands Park.

Getting there
To help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID 19 participants will be encouraged to physically distance. So, travel to and from the event by private vehicle is being strongly encouraged.

Parking
Car parking is available in the vicinity either free or at minimal cost. Please refer to local maps for specific details.

Public transport
Buses 220, 232, 235, trams 11, 48, train lines CRAIGIEBURN, HURSTBRIDGE, LILYDALE, MERNDA, PAKENHAM, SUNBURY have transport routes which pass near Docklands, Melbourne. Please confirm availability and frequency via local public transport providers or apps. If public transport is used participants are reminded to adhere to the COVID safe rules at the time. This includes wearing a mask and socially distancing where possible.

Cycling
Participants are also encouraged to ride bicycles to the Mother's Day Classic, with bike parking provided at the location.

Fundraising 
On the day you'll be able to donate funds via the collection tins or electronically via the SMS donation number (0488 849 632)

First aid
All MDC Local Locations will have a qualified first aid officer on site. First aid will be located at the location event arrival site.

Food & drink
BYO water in reusable bottles, use any available water dispensers at the site, no water stations will be provided.
Please bring your own snacks and support your local food and beverage businesses on your way to the site and/or on your way home.

Dogs
All dogs/pets must be on leads.

COVIDSafe statement: This event will be conducted in accordance with all COVIDSafe requirements and practices as determined by the state health department. A COVIDSafe checklist/plan has been completed for this event to ensure the safety of all participants.

MDC Local 

While this year will look a little different, you’ll still be able to dress up, complete your walk/run, honour those touched by breast cancer and enjoy the community spirit on the day. All you need to do is bring along your race pack (which will be delivered to your door beforehand), arrive at your assigned time, use your phone to scan the QR code at your location and complete one or two laps of the course. Don’t forget to share your happy snaps and tag #mdc2021!
