We are delighted to announce a Mother's Day Classic Local Location at The Tan, Melbourne!
Local locations will be smaller and more informal compared to traditional MDC events, but they will be big on community spirit!

Where: Kings Domain, Lithgow Ave, Melbourne

The iconic Kings Domain is an area of parklands in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It surrounds Government House Reserve, the home of the Governors of Victoria, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and the Shrine Reserve incorporating the Shrine of Remembrance. Kings Domain is part of a larger group of parklands directly south-east of the city, between St. Kilda Road and the Yarra River known as the Domain Parklands, which includes The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kings Domain, Alexandra Gardens and Queen Victoria Gardens

Getting there
To help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID 19 participants will be encouraged to physically distance. So, travel to and from the event by private vehicle is being strongly encouraged.

Parking
Car parking is available in the vicinity either free or at minimal cost. Suggested parking options around the Tan include Alexandra Ave, Boathouse Drive, some areas of St Kilda Road, Anderson Street and Birdwood Avenue. Please refer to local maps for specific details.

Public transport
If public transport is used participants are reminded to adhere to the COVID safe rules at the time. This includes wearing a mask and socially distancing where possible.

The Check-in area
Look out for the pink Mother's Day Classic flags.

Toilets
Signage and information on public toilets in the area will be made available to participants. Two additional toilets can be found at the village location within the assembly area. Toilet signs can be found at Government House Drive Public Toilets, at the Village assembly area and Linlithgow Ave in the gardens.

Fundraising 
On the day you'll be able to donate funds via the collection tins or electronically via the SMS donation number (0488 849 632)

First aid
All MDC Local Locations will have a qualified first aid officer on site. First aid will be located at the location event arrival site.

Food & drink
BYO water in reusable bottles, drinking fountains are located along the route for use. No free water will be supplied by the event.
Please bring your own snacks and support your local food and beverage businesses on your way to the site and/or on your way home.

Dogs
All dogs/pets must be on leads.

COVIDSafe statement: This event will be conducted in accordance with all COVIDSafe requirements and practices as determined by the state health department. A COVIDSafe checklist/plan has been completed for this event to ensure the safety of all participants.

MDC Local 

While this year will look a little different, you’ll still be able to dress up, complete your walk/run, honour those touched by breast cancer and enjoy the community spirit on the day. All you need to do is bring along your race pack (which will be delivered to your door beforehand), arrive at your assigned time, use your phone to scan the QR code at your location and complete one or two laps of the course. Don’t forget to share your happy snaps and tag #mdc2021!
