VIC - Melbourne - The Tan

Walk or run in a sea of pink and enjoy the buzz of being a part of a large crowd once again. Experience the atmosphere of the crowd, event village, entertainment, music, and food stalls. A race pack will be posted to your door with a, headscarf, race bib, and tribute card to honour loved ones on the day at the tribute wall. You’ll also receive a commemorative medallion, handed over with pride when you cross the finish line.

The iconic Alexandra Garden is an area of parklands in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. It surrounds Government House Reserve, the home of the Governors of Victoria, the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and the Shrine Reserve incorporating the Shrine of Remembrance. Kings Domain is part of a larger group of parklands directly south-east of the city, between St. Kilda Road and the Yarra River known as the Domain Parklands, which includes The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kings Domain, Alexandra Gardens and Queen Victoria Gardens

Course information

Starting on Alexandra Avenue, the course will complete a lap around Melbourne’s the Tan track and finish within Alexandra Gardens.

Getting there and parking

Getting there
To help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID 19 participants will be encouraged to physically distance. So, travel to and from the event by private vehicle is being strongly encouraged.

Car parking is available in the vicinity either free or at minimal cost. Suggested parking options around the Tan include Alexandra Ave, Boathouse Drive, some areas of St Kilda Road, Anderson Street and Birdwood Avenue. Please refer to local maps for specific details.

Public transport
If public transport is used participants are reminded to adhere to the COVID safe rules at the time. This includes wearing a mask and socially distancing where possible.

- By Train: The closest train station to the event village is Flinders Street Station, disembark at Flinders Street Station and take the Swanston Street exit from the station and turn right. You can also alight at Richmond Station and walk-up Swan Street to the start line.

- Cycling to the event

  • Bicycle parking will be available on site near the baggage drop. Please bring a lock. We cannot accept responsibility for bikes lost or stolen.

- By Tram:

  • Tram Routes 1, 3/3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 all travel down St. Kilda Road, disembark at the Federation Square/Swanston St stop and cross the road to Alexandra Gardens.
  • Tram Routes 35, 70 and 75 travel down Swanston Street, disembark at the Swanston St and Flinders Street stop, cross over St Kilda Road and walk south towards Alexandra Gardens.

Toilet’s will be made available for use within the event village and around the course. Signage and information on toilet locations will be made available to participants, look out for directional signage or, ask one of our friendly staff members for directions if required.

First aid
A qualified First Aid service provider will be at the event.  There are two first aid stations on the course, as well as roving first aid bike crews. There are also first aid stations within the event village and start/finish areas. If you require medical assistance ask one of our friendly staff members for directions if required.

Food & drink
BYO water in reusable bottles, drinking fountains are located along the route for use. No free water will be supplied by the event.
Please bring your own snacks and support your local food and beverage businesses on your way to the site and/or on your way home.

Unfortunately no dogs allowed
