What is the Mother’s Day Classic?
The Mother’s Day Classic is the largest community fundraising event for breast cancer research in Australia. It involves thousands of women, men, girls and boys of all ages and takes place around the country on Mother’s Day each year.
Is the event only for women?
No. The Mother’s Day Classic is open to men, women and children of all ages.
Where does the money raised go?
Funds raised by the Women in Super Mother’s Day Classic are donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that invests in word-class research into better prevention and treatment of breast cancer.
How much of the money raised goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation?
Your donation and fundraising efforts go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, a 100% community-funded organisation.
In 2016 your efforts, combined with the generosity of event sponsors, gave $3 million to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. In total, since the event began in 1998, over $30 million has been donated by Mother’s Day Classic participants like you.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation invests in innovative and promising research that aims to stop deaths from breast cancer by 2030. That includes research to improve detection, develop new treatments and help women and men affected by breast cancer live longer, better lives.

Where do I set up my fundraising page?
Can I transfer my entry or obtain a refund?
Entry fees are non-refundable as per the terms and conditions. You may like to consider it as a contribution to the Mother's Day Classic event and the NBCF.
How do I pay for my entry?
The Mother’s Day Classic accepts valid Visa, MasterCard or American Express credit cards. Money orders and cheques are also acceptable and should be made payable to Mother’s Day Classic (address for mailing is on the entry form). We request that you please not send cash in the mail.
What does my entry fee provide me?
You mean besides a great day with your friends and family? Each participant will receive a Mother’s Day Classic commemorative medallion which converts to a key ring and lanyard.
Also, if you are attending one of the major events you will be provided with a race kit that contains your race number, and if you are running, a timing device.
Is my registration tax deductible?
Donations and funds raised from sponsorship are tax deductible (if over $2), but your registration is not tax deductible.
The ABN for DGR purposes is the MDC Foundation Ltd ATF Mother's Day Classic Foundation: 16 179 157 565.
The Mother’s Day Classic is registered as a separate charity with Deductible Gift Recipient status. This means all donation receipts will be issued by MDC Foundation Ltd as trustee for Mother’s Day Classic Foundation. All proceeds will be donated to National Breast Cancer Foundation towards breast cancer research.
While the portion of your registration payment goes towards breast cancer research, you are participating in an event and therefor receiving a service. This means that event registration does not qualify as a tax deduction.
The Mother’s Day Classic is a morning to get together and do something healthy with family and friends and to celebrate and support those who have been affected by breast cancer. It’s also about raising money for the research that will defeat it.
Do I need my parent’s permission to enter?
You need to be 18 years or older to enter the event without your parent’s permission. People under 18 years need their parents to sign the entry form.
Can I participate under a Companion Card?
We welcome participants who have a Companion Card and require a companion to accompany them at our events. If you do not have a Companion Card and would like to apply for one please contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information and guidance.
Please be aware that the person applying for the Companion Card is the person with the disability.

If you are entering as part of a team and each member is paying individually, please enter via the online registration system. The first team member to register (usually the team coordinator) will be required to create the team during registration. Once this is done (and the individual who is creating the team has paid for their registration) the team name will automatically appear in the team drop down box when “team” is selected by new team members when they are registering. Make sure you give all potential team members the name and correct spelling of the team you have set up. Please ensure your team members select your team name when prompted to do so. It is imperative that this is done during the registration process.
Are there any training programs to help me get ready for the day?
Yes. We have both free training groups in many cities near events as well as downloadable walking and running training programs. They can be found here.
I have received my event kit but not my merchandise?

What will the entry show on my credit card?
Your credit card statement will show ‘MDC Foundation Ltd Melbourne’.
How long will it take to walk the courses?
4km about 45 to 55 minutes
5km about 60 to 70 minutes
8km about 90 to 120 minutes
Can I bring my pram?
Prams are permitted on the course, however entrants who bring along a pram will be required to start at the rear of their group.
I have a toddler, do they have to pay?
Children under 3 are not required to pay the entry fee. However, it is a fundraising event and money raised does go towards breast cancer research.
Can I bring my dog or other pet to run/walk with me?
No. For safety reasons, animals are not permitted on the course. N.B Guide dogs are allowed.
Can I get a tribute card if I didn’t order one and what do I do with it on the day?
Yes, you can pick up your tribute card on event day from one of the information marquees. You can also download one from the website. Tribute cards can be attached to your top in support or memory of a loved one touched by breast cancer.
How do I find out my results?
Timing only occurs for certain MDC events, please check your local event page for full details.
Go to the results page on Sunday after the event for run results. You can also print out an official certificate from the website. Walkers will not be timed.
The Mother’s Day Classic cares about the environment. Where possible, please use public transport or bike ride to the event. Your help will reduce the impact of the event on the environment.
Unfortunately, balloons are not allowed to be brought to the event.
For safety reasons please DO NOT bring dogs, rollerblades, skateboards, scooters or bikes on the course. Prams are permitted on the course, however please start towards the back of the group.
Further important information
There will be a large number of people at the event, so make sure you use the meeting points provided.
Ensure you keep an eye on your children and organise specific points to meet before the event in case someone gets lost.
Be aware that you are a pedestrian on public roads and please follow instructions from race officials.
What to wear
Walkers - Normal street clothes and a comfortable pair of shoes.
Runners - Comfortable running gear and shoes.
Please remember to dress according to the weather – i.e. hat and sunscreen or rain jacket, etc.
