Women in Super
In 1998 Women in Super (WIS) founder, Mavis Robertson, returned from a trip to the United States with the seed of an idea, she planted that seed among the WIS board and the Mother’s Day Classic (MDC) was born. The MDC celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2017, having raised $33.2 million for breast cancer research.
WIS sees its organisation of the event, together with its work in promoting better retirement prospects for women, as an important investment in the future health of Australian women, so they can enjoy a happy and healthy retirement.
MDC provides participants with the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of those diagnosed with breast cancer. Since the event began in 1998, 5-year survival rates have been increasing, and now stand at 90% of those diagnosed.
