NATIONAL AMBASSADOR - Livinia Nixon
"Sadly, most of us know someone who has been affected by breast cancer. In fact, one in nine Australian women will be diagnosed at some stage throughout their life. But enhancements in research and improved methods of early detection are
leading to better treatment options.
"Since its inception in 1998, the Mother’s Day Classic has raised more than $10.8 million for breast cancer research programs and I am delighted to be the 2012 ambassador for this wonderful initiative.
"The Mother's Day Classic presents an opportunity for all of us to make a meaningful contribution in the fight against breast cancer. Please join with me in supporting this
wonderful cause."

NATIONAL & QUEENSLAND AMBASSADOR - Duncan Armstrong
"Being an Ambassador for the Mother’s Day Classic is one of the most satisfying things I get to do each year. My entire family now enjoys our very own Mother's Day tradition, alongside thousands of other BrisVegans, watching the sunrise at Southbank and stepping out to support so many girls who can’t. It’s up to us to find a cure to stop our lovely ladies from leaving us too early because of breast cancer. So until we find that cure, the MDC will ALWAYS be an Armstrong family tradition in May."

VICTORIA AMBASSADOR - Jo Hall
"I think most of us have been touched by breast cancer at some point in our lives. With one in nine women diagnosed in their lifetime, it seems that we all have a mother, sister, friend or work colleague who has been affected. A close friend of mine recently went through treatment for breast cancer and it was this experience that really hit home for me just how widespread the condition is.
"With the opportunity to be an Ambassador for the Mother's Day Classic, I hope that, in some small way, I can increase awareness of the event and help raise valuable funds for breast cancer research. The Mother's Day Classic is a truly proactive initiative that provides people with the opportunity to make a meaningful
contribution in the fight against breast cancer. I encourage all Australians, young
and old, male or female, to get behind this great event."

VICTORIA AMBASSADOR - Lindsay Mullins
“To have seen this event grow exponentially in the last few years is very gratifying. To see so much love and friendship displayed at the annual Mother's Day Classic is overwhelming. I have run in every Melbourne event since 2003, raising over $68,000 in memory of my dear wife Filomena, who passed away in June 2003, after almost three years of illness. Together with our children, James and Katharine, we always look forward to running with friends and family on this very important day. Our aim is to both raise money for breast cancer research and to increase the awareness and importance of regular self examination and early diagnosis."
Lindsay Mullins has raised more than $68,,000 for the Mother's Day Classic.

VICTORIA REGIONAL AMBASSADOR - Jane Bunn
"It is such an honour to be an Ambassador for the Mother's Day Classic. It is so important to continue research into breast cancer and to raise funds so that much more can be done. Every little bit can help.
"A walk or run is a healthy and fun way to spend the morning before our family's tradition of celebrating Mother’s Day with little pastries and cakes.
"Rain, hail or hopefully shine, this is a great way to spend Mother’s Day.”

NSW AMBASSADOR - Jaynie Seal
"I am so excited to be an ambassador for the Mother's Day Classic. I, like so many people, have experienced first hand loved ones passing away from breast cancer, and this is a great event to raise money for research programs. My grandmother was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was aged in her 80s and unfortunately passed away soon after. I'll never forget this crucial piece of advice she gave me - to always have a breast check up twice a year.
"Events such as the Mother's Day Classic brings together a community spirit, and I am looking forward to joining everyone on Mother's Day morning for a run or walk, and hope this year even more men, women and children participate - see you there!"

NSW AMBASSADOR - Nathan Cayless
"When I was approached to become an ambassador for Women in Super Mother's Day Classic in 2009, I jumped at the opportunity as I have witnessed many close friends and loved ones affected by this unfortunate disease. It has been great to spend the last couple of Mother's Day mornings with my wife and kids and also many other families in raising much needed funds and awareness for breast cancer research.
I am really looking forward to this year's event as the day has continually gained momentum with the event growing every year. So I urge everyone to come along for a great morning of fun and let's face it we all need the exercise to stay healthy."

SOUTH AUSTRALIA AMBASSADOR - Georgina McGuiness
"I feel honoured and indeed privileged to be an Ambassador for the Mother's Day Classic. While I am grateful that breast cancer has not touched any of my immediate family, it has certainly had an impact on friends very close to me. I have seen them struggle through the rigours of gruelling treatment as their brave husbands and children stand by, hoping for a miracle. Thankfully, for my friends that miracle happened and not only have they survived but they are now strong, healthy and happy for every new day.
"Events like the Mother's Day Classic keep the issue of breast cancer in the public eye. Not only that, but the fundraising dollars go towards research and development
into treatments that may well save the lives of someone we love in the future. I
encourage everyone ... mums, dads, kids to join in what will be a great community
event."

ACT AMBASSADOR - Danielle Post
"Breast cancer has touched my life - not once but twice. My grandmother was first diagnosed twenty five years ago. Just two years ago, at the age of 90, she was told she had to have a second mastectomy. Through positive thinking and keeping busy - she beat the odds and is still charming the world with her humour. Positive thinking and support were the key to her recovery.
"Events like the Mother's Day Classic bring people together, creating that atmosphere of hope and positivity. It's about friendship, community and most of all - fun! So - grab your mothers and start their special day, with a walk or run, in honour of all the women and men who have had to endure this heartbreaking disease."

TASMANIA AMBASSADOR - Jane Turner
"It is an absolute honour to be asked to be an Ambassador for the Mother’s Day Classic. Having lost several family members to breast cancer over the year’s means it’s a cause that is very close to my heart. The Classic is not only a day of empowerment and celebration, but also of remembrance and laughter. Hearing the stories of survivors and those of people who have lost someone they love is bittersweet but also a privilege. I look forward to donning my pink “hoodie” and joining hands with the people of Hobart again this year"

TASMANIA AMBASSADOR - Tori Hodgman
Tori says about the Mother’s Day Classic:
“I think the Mother’s Day Classsic is a great event for Hobart as is the fundraising potential for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, an organisation very close to my heart. In 1990 my beautiful mother Marian (known as Matsi to her close family and friends) was diagnosed with breast cancer and after a very difficult 10 years of treatment, she lost her battle in 2000 at only 60 years of age. "Since her death I found that the usual anniversaries like her birthday or the day on which she died were not overly difficult to deal with and were usually spent quietly celebrating her life. Mothers Day was another story. The saturation of advertising leading up to the day made me resentful that I no longer had my mum around, and the actual day was
usually spent feeling very lonely and just wishing the day would end. The Mother’s
Day Classic has totally transformed Mother’s Day for me. I get to spend the day with
hundreds of people in the same boat and we all get to honour our mums together and
in addition, I have made friends with some amazing women who I know will be with me
for life. It’s an amazing and poignant event and I look forward to donning my pinks every year and enjoying Mother's Day now that is has a totally new meaning for me.”

WESTERN AUSTRALIA AMBASSADOR - Julie Bishop
"Breast cancer impacts directly and indirectly on people from all walks of life and this event helps raise public awareness about the effects of breast cancer on the community and the importance of early detection.
"I encourage all Australians to put on their running shoes this Mother’s Day to support those affected by breast cancer and help raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation."
