These were the 3 words that shattered my world in January as I lay in hospital, alone and scared. The doctors couldn't even tell me where my cancer had originated from, but they knew my liver was covered in tumours causing me terrible pain. The days and weeks before these 3 words, life was rolling along as normal. I had recently run a 5km parkrun, was playing doubles tennis, was back at work and enjoying family life with Pete and our two active little boys. But all that changed when those 3 words were spoken. My mind spiralled. How could I have stage 4 cancer and not know? How could the doctors not even know where my cancer started? How long would I live? Then the grief set in. I cried and sobbed at the thought of missing my boys start school, their first swimming carnival, seeing them grow up and growing old with Pete. I still think about these things and my hope and is that one day there will be a cure for stage 4 cancers. Australia leads the world in breast cancer research and Elijah and I will be participating in the 4km mothers day classic walk to help raise funds for this research. Some of the drugs I'm currently on have only been developed in the past 10 years and will now, God willing give me many years with my boys instead of months. My subtype of breast cancer is very aggressive, so I will be on some form of cancer treatment for the rest of my life. This in itself is not easy to come to terms with. Before cancer, I was healthy and didn't take any medication. I now use a concoction of medications to keep me stable, my pain in check and reduce my cancer. The side effects of these drugs are mammoth in itself. But I will continue to fight this horrid disease so I can spend more time with my family. If you are able to donate to this cause, I would be ever so grateful and if you wish to come down on the 11th to the Camden biketrack to cheer us on, that would be amazing too. I pray for healing everyday and I dream to one day say I am cured.We've donated so far...
