Fundraising and Donations

General Fundraising

Do I have to fundraise?

add remove

Fundraising is optional — but every dollar raised helps fund vital breast and ovarian cancer research!

Many participants find fundraising to be a powerful way to honour loved ones and connect with their community. If you’d like to give it a go, we’ve made it easy: your dashboard includes email templates, social media tiles, and a personalised fundraising page you can share with friends and family.

Whether you raise $5 or $500, you’re making a difference.

What’s on my Fundraising Dashboard and how do I use it?

add remove

Your Fundraising Dashboard is your personal hub for all things MDC!

If you’ve completed your registration, a fundraising page has already been created for you. Log in using your email and password to access your dashboard and:

  • Personalise your page with a message and photo

  • Share your fundraising link via email or social media

  • Track donations (online and offline)

  • Access resources like posters, tiles, and fundraising ideas

  • Invite friends to join you

  • Take part in MDC competitions

Your dashboard is designed to make fundraising simple and fun — and we’re here to support you every step of the way.

How do I view my donations?

add remove

You can see all your donations – and thank your supporters – through your Fundraising Dashboard.

Just log in and head to the “My Donations” tab to:

  • See a list of all your online donors

  • Add offline (cash) donations

  • Send thank you messages to your supporters

It’s a great way to stay connected to the people who are supporting your walk or run.

How do I add a donation to my fundraising page that was given to me in cash (Offline Donation)?

add remove

If someone gives you a donation in cash, here’s how you can add it to your fundraising total:

  1. Deposit the cash into your own bank account

  2. Go to your MDC dashboard and select “Add Offline Donation”

  3. Enter the donation amount and the donor’s name/email

  4. Complete the payment using your credit card

The donor will receive their tax receipt by email, and the donation will appear on your page as if they’d donated online.

What’s the best way to increase my donations?

add remove

The most powerful thing you can do is share your story.

Let your friends, family, and colleagues know why you’re taking part – and share your personalised fundraising page with them. People love to support causes that matter to the people they care about.

Other ways to boost your impact:

  • Personalise your fundraising page

  • Use the ready-to-go posters and social tiles in your Dashboard Resources

  • Send emails directly from your dashboard

  • Host a mini fundraiser in your workplace, gym, school or community

And don’t forget to tag us on social media so we can cheer you on!

How are my donations split if I am fundraising for both breast and ovarian cancer?

add remove

If you select both breast and ovarian cancer research during registration, your fundraising and donations will be evenly split between the two.

Donations made directly to a team or individual are allocated based on the cause selected by that team or person.

Can I change which cause I am fundraising for after registration?

add remove

Once you’ve selected your cause during registration, we’re unable to change it. This is because your supporters may already be donating based on your original selection — and we want to honour their intent.

If you’re part of a team, you can still support a different cause to your teammates. Team donations go to the team captain’s selected cause, while individual donations go to the cause chosen by each fundraiser.

Donations

Where is my donation receipt?

add remove

Your receipt depends on how and when you donated:

  • If you donated during registration, your receipt was included in the same email as your registration confirmation and merchandise summary.

  • If you made a donation to a participant, team, or donated directly, your receipt was emailed to you at the time of donation.

Need to find or re-download a receipt?
You can access all past donation receipts by logging into the Donor Login page:

  1. Click Login at the top right of our website

  2. Select Donor Login

  3. Enter the email address you used when donating

  4. Go to Your History to view and download any past receipts

Receipts are available for all donations of $2 or more and are tax deductible. To count toward this year’s fundraising milestones, donations must be made before June 30.

Still can't find it? Contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.

Are donations to the Mother's Day Classic Foundation tax deductible?

add remove
Yes – all donations of $2 or more are tax deductible.

Receipts are sent by email at the time of donation, and can also be downloaded anytime from your donor dashboard.

Simply click “Login” at the top right of our website and sign in using the email address you donated under.

How do I donate a large contribution?

add remove

Thank you so much for your incredible generosity.

If you’re making a large donation, we can help you deposit it directly into the Mother's Day Classic Foundation’s account and assign it to your chosen fundraising page.

We’ll also make sure you receive a donation receipt sent directly to your nominated email address.

Please complete our Large Donation Form and we will be in touch soon!

Why am I being asked to contribute an additional 6% when donating?

add remove

When you donate, you’ll see an optional 6% contribution added at checkout. This small amount helps us cover essential costs – like platform fees, credit card charges, and admin – so that more of your donation can go directly towards funding breast and ovarian cancer research.

It’s completely optional. If you’d prefer not to include it, simply untick the box before completing your payment.

Thank you for supporting the cause – every contribution makes a difference.

Dual cause

How will funds raised through the MDC be used in 2026?

add remove

MDCF has partnered with both the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation to fund vital research that is focused on saving women’s lives.

In 2026, the Mother’s Day Classic will continue to raise funds through community fundraising, online fundraising, donations, merchandise sales and registration fees.

Once event and administration costs have been deducted, proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation (OCRF) to fund life-changing research in accordance with the selection of MDC event participants. MDCF will continue to endeavour to keep costs low, so as much as possible can be donated.

How will the MDC determine how much to donate to each cause?

add remove
When you sign up for the 2026 Mother's Day Classic you are given the option to fundraise and participate for breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research – or both – it’s up to you! The MDCF will determine the donation to be made to each of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation from the net proceeds of the 2026 MDC event in accordance with the selection of MDC event participants.

What if my team is fundraising for a different cause than I am?

add remove

We appreciate that members of a team may wish to support breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research or both! If someone makes a donation to a team (rather than a member of that team) that donation will be allocated to whichever cause the team captain has specified.

All donations made to individuals within a team however, will be allocated to whichever cause the individual has specified.

Will the Mother’s Day Classic be supporting women’s causes other than breast and ovarian cancer?

add remove
We recognise that there are so many important causes impacting women across Australia. However, the MDCF’s focus is on reducing the impact of women’s cancers (in particular breast and ovarian cancer) by funding research through initiatives that champion and support women living healthier, longer lives.
