TEAM STRYKER! Running in memory of Maria Lytras
Our team is participating in the Mother's Day Classic, Sunday 10 May!
Despite her fierce rebellion, on 08 February 2026 we lost my mum, Maria Lytras, to cancer. I know Mother’s Day is going to feel heavy this year so I am participating in this run as a way to honour my mum’s memory and also deal with my own grief.
My mum loved watching me run and was an avid spectator and supporter throughout my athletics days, so I know she will be smiling from up in the clouds on race day.
My beautiful partner Frankie (whom mum absolutely adored) and Vanessa (more or less mum’s second daughter) will be running alongside me for the 4km. It’s a friendly distance (😹) and we would love for more people to join us, whether that’s running or walking. To honour Maria’s memory, or perhaps another woman in your life who has been impacted by cancer, or just to show your support for team Stryker ^___^ (For context - Stryker was my mum’s cat who passed away a fortnight after my mum, the vets suspect she also had cancer).
Otherwise, please show your support by making a donation which will go towards women’s cancer research. Too many lives are lost far too soon to the insidious beast that is cancer.
