Supporting Breast Cancer Research
We are doing it for GRANDMA! 2026 Mother’s Day Classic!
This year, our team is taking part in the Mother’s Day Classic, and it means more to us than we can put into words.
In 2022, my aunty was diagnosed with breast cancer. That prompted my mum to go for her over-50 screening, something that ended up saving her life. Not long after, she was diagnosed with breast cancer too.
It was a huge shock for our whole family. At the time, we were living in Newcastle during the second wave of COVID lockdowns, and I had just given birth to my second child. I felt so helpless, watching my mum go through surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, all while we were somewhat isolated from each other.
Thankfully, both my mum and my aunty are now in remission and living their best lives. Going through that experience changed everything for me. You never think it will happen to your own mum, until it does. It makes you realise how little control you have, and how important research and early detection really are.
Now that we’re on the other side, I feel incredibly grateful. I truly believe that without the research and advancements already made, our story could have been very different. I get to hug my mum this Mother’s Day, and that means everything.
That’s why we’re raising funds for breast cancer research. If you’re able to donate, you’re helping give more families the chance to have their loved ones with them for moments that matter.
Please support us if you can so that fewer families have to face this, and more mums get to be there 🩷🩷🩷
