SUPPORTING Breast and Ovarian Cancer Research
On Sunday 10 May, I'm putting my foot down to save lives.
I have been doing the Mother’s Day Classic since it began in Brisbane, many years ago.
Since the first event, my mum used to come down and watch me run. We used to eat from the sausage sizzle at the finish, always ensuring not to ruin the Mother’s Day brunch or lunch that would follow elsewhere. The only event she missed was her last Mother’s Day in 2012 when she was in hospital.
My mother had an 18 year battle with cancer. She had participated in many trials during that time, including drug treatment originally meant for something else but that they believe could assist people like her. It was not breast or ovarian cancer. However, she was a believer that any research into any form of cancer could help fight this insidious disease in any of its guises.
Since her passing, I have made the Mother’s Day Classic the event that I reach out to others to fund raise. I hope you can join with me and support this worthy cause.
Thank you for your support.
