What's on in 2026
When is the Mother's Day Classic?
Can’t make it to an event site? You can still walk or run with us by joining MDC Own Time, Own Place. Be part of the movement – anytime, anywhere.
Registrations open February 2026.
What is the Mother's Day Classic Foundation?
The first Mother’s Day Classic event took place in 1998 and in 2015, the Mother’s Day Classic Foundation (Trust) was established. It is registered as a public ancillary fund and endorsed as having deductible gift recipient status. It is responsible for running the Mother’s Day Classic and conducting other activities in relation to raising awareness and fundraising for women’s cancers. Women in Super is recognised as the founder of the Trust and the founder of the event.
From 1998 to 2023 proceeds from the Mother’s Day Classic were donated exclusively to the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) to fund breast cancer research. During this period, awareness campaigns associated with the Mother’s Day Classic have focussed on breast cancer.
Over this period:
- 1.7 million Australians have participated;
- $47.3 million has been donated to fund life-saving breast cancer research;
- the 5 year survival for those diagnosed with breast cancer has risen from 84% to 92%,
but there’s still more to be done.
Tragically, the 5 year survival rate for a woman diagnosed with ovarian cancer is 49% and there is no early detection test. Every day in Australia nine women die from breast cancer, when you add ovarian cancer that number goes to 12 deaths every day. One death is too many.
That’s why since 2024, we’re going further and inviting our participants to walk or run in support of ovarian cancer research, in addition to breast cancer research.
Together we can accelerate progress towards a day where every woman diagnosed with either breast or ovarian cancer will be given the assurance that they can survive.

Race bibs
Can I order a Named Bib?
Yes – if you register by Thursday 12 March 2026, you can receive a personalised bib at no extra cost.
Your name will appear exactly as entered during registration, so double-check before submitting!
I haven’t received my race bib – can I still participate?
If you registered on or before Thursday 9 April 2026, your race bib will be sent to you by standard envelope post. Bibs are usually mailed about three weeks after registration.
Still waiting for yours? Please don’t worry – we’ve got you.
If your bib doesn’t arrive before event day, you can:
-
Pick one up on the day from the registration desk at your event – check your event page for location-specific info
-
Use your downloadable bib, which will be sent to you by email (perfect for untimed or Local events)
You’ll still be able to walk or run with us – and our friendly team will be there on the day to help if you need anything.
If you’ve registered for MDC Own Time, Own Place, your bib will be mailed up until Saturday 30 May 2026.
My bib isn’t right – what should I do?
Whether your bib hasn’t arrived, has an error, or looks different to what you expected – please know that you’re still part of the Mother’s Day Classic and we’ll make sure you can join in.
Here’s how we can help:
-
For minor details like incorrect wave time or distance, you don’t need a new bib – just turn up at your preferred time.
-
For timing tag issues, come see us at the registration desk on event day. We will help get this sorted for you there.
-
If your name is incorrect, you can collect a replacement numbered bib if you’d like one.
Our team will be ready on the day to make sure everything runs smoothly, so feel free to visit us then!
Where can I download a race bib?
If you’re participating in an untimed event or at a Local Event, you’ll receive a link to download a printable bib in your pre-event email.
These bibs don’t need a number – just write your name on the front and emergency contact on the back.
If you’re running at a Major Event, you must use the official bib that:
-
Was mailed to you, or
-
Is collected from the registration desk on event day
Downloadable bibs cannot be used for timed runs.
If your official bib hasn’t arrived or is incorrect, visit the registration desk on event day and we’ll help you with a replacement.
Why didn't I receive a tribute card with my bibs this year?
Tribute cards are no longer sent with race bibs. Based on community feedback, most participants prefer to pick one up on event day.
You can still:
-
Download and print a tribute card from your event page before Mother's Day
-
Collect one at your event location – Major, Metro and some Local events will have cards available on the day
