Standard prices close end of April
2 weeks until walk + run + fundraise for Mother’s Day!
Time is running out to register for the Mother’s Day Classic – avoid the price rise coming on 1 May – and register now and save! Join the thousands of Australians all across the country walking and running on Mother’s Day to support breast cancer research.
Now with only two weeks to go, have you thought about what you’re doing to make Mother’s Day mean more this year?
Increasingly, the colourful event synonymous with pink has become a way for groups of families and friends to participate in a healthy, fun and inspirational activity to kick off their Mother’s Day.
What started in 1998 as a way to honour those affected by breast cancer and to support research into the disease has grown into Australia’s largest breast cancer fundraiser involving more than 100,000 participants around the nation, raising money each Mother’s Day for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and life-saving research.
“It is a powerful day for families and friends to support breast cancer survivors and those who have lost loved ones to the disease,” says Sharon Morris, CEO of MDC Foundation.
As the major fundraiser for the National Breast Cancer Foundation, the MDC has contributed more than $35.3 million to breast cancer research.
“It’s also about fundraising and our goal is to reach $2.1m for life-saving breast cancer research this year. We need the Australian community to help us get there,” Ms Morris said.
Lauren Couter is one of our exceptional Mother’s Day Classic Fundraising Legends who has raised over $100,000 for breast cancer since the first MDC event in Canberra back in 2007.
“The MDC is a perfect example of where women are supporting other women. And I can do that. I may not have had breast cancer, or have lost family or friends to this disease, but I can run 10km. And I can ask for money,” says Lauren.
Lauren supports breast cancer research because she believes it will underpin the finding of a cure for all cancers.
“I fundraise to show my daughter how we can help. I fundraise so that my daughter won’t have to worry about getting breast cancer.”
Join Lauren in making Mother’s Day mean more and be sure to register and start fundraising, and get your runners and pinkest outfit ready for Sunday morning 12 May. This year’s Mother’s Day Classic walk + run will be held across Australia in 88 locations, from capital cities, regional centres and remote towns all around Australia.
Don’t forget that our standard prices close on Tuesday 30 April so there is no time to waste!
