SUPPORTING Breast and Ovarian Cancer Research
On Sunday 10 May, I'm putting my foot down to save lives.
I’m walking the Mother’s Day Classic this year
to raise money for breast and ovarian cancer research.
I’ll be doing the 5km walk on the day with my family at our local park.
This cause is very close to my family’s heart – this year more than ever.
I’ve been proud to do this walk over the past few years with my mum, a two-time
breast cancer survivor. Sadly, she passed away last year, ultimately from
complications caused by breast cancer. This year, I am walking in her honour.
It’s estimated that more than 50 women in Australia will be diagnosed with
breast cancer every day, and approximately nine people will die from the
disease daily. Thanks to ongoing research, the relative five-year survival rate
for breast cancer has improved from 84% in 1998 to 92% today. However, there’s
still more to be done to reach the goal of zero deaths from breast cancer.
If you have the means, I would really appreciate it if you would consider
sponsoring me and helping me raise money for such a worthwhile cause.
Together the Mother’s Day Classic community has donated...
$48.23 million
Since 1998 to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
