SUPPORTING Breast Cancer Research
About the Lilydale MDC

After my mum, Maree, was diagnosed in 2011, I started attending the fundraiser in the city. Eventually, I decided to bring it to Lilydale, where I could make a bigger local impact.
Since 2015, I’ve had the privilege of being the volunteer host for the Mother’s Day Classic - welcoming participants, sharing their stories, and reminding everyone why we’re there.
In 2016, I lost my mum to breast cancer - a heartbreaking loss that fuelled me with even more drive to honour her and make sure fewer families faced the same pain.
This role became even more significant after Mum passed, as it’s a way to continue her legacy. Each year, I see the strength and hope of those walking for loved ones, and it’s both bittersweet and powerful.
As I continue my role, I know we’ve made an impact. Hundreds of thousands raised, vital research funded, and a community built. This fight is personal for me, and Mum’s legacy lives on in every step and every life we help save.
I’m proud to be part of the Mother’s Day Classic, a community event that brings thousands together across Australia to walk or run in support of breast and ovarian cancer research. This isn’t just a fundraiser, it’s a day of connection, remembrance, and hope.
If you can donate, we would be very grateful.
