I'm running again—because the fight isn't over

Last year, I shared my story: a routine checkup in 2020, three words that changed everything, and a battle fought through chemo, surgery, and isolation—all while showing my three children what resilience looks like.

This year, I'm lacing up my runners again. Not because my story has changed—but because too many stories are still being written.

This year, I helped two other mums fight breast cancer. Watching them hear those same terrifying words—"you have cancer"—brought everything flooding back. But this time, I wasn't just a survivor. I was a friend who could sit beside them, hold their hand, and say, "I made it through. You will too."

My personal resilience became their anchor. Seeing me—still working, still raising my kids, still living fully—gave them something medicine alone couldn't: proof that life continues beyond diagnosis. Their mental strength grew. The fear that once paralyzed them began to fade. And in helping them fight, I was reminded why this run matters more than ever.

I run for the mother who can't hug her children during chemo.

I run for the woman who can't afford the treatments that saved me.

I run because Australia's healthcare system gave me a second chance—and every woman deserves the same.

Two years of fundraising. Two years closer to a cure. Two years of proving that cancer might take our hair, our energy, even our lymph nodes—but it will never take our hope.
