We are delighted to announce a Mother's Day Classic Local Location at Geelong!
Local locations will be smaller and more informal compared to traditional MDC events, but they will be big on community spirit!

Where: Eastern Beach Reserve, Geelong

The Geelong Waterfront is one of Australia's most stunning waterfronts. This cosmopolitan and vibrant area is a hive of activity with restaurants and cafes, beautiful landscaped gardens, attractions and public art, all with amazing views of Corio Bay. Please join the Mother's Day Classic's Geelong course which winds along the waterfront's edge from Eastern Beach to Western Beach and back again.

Distances: 4km & 8km

Course starts and ends at Eastern Beach Reserve, participants follow the right-hand side footpaths along Eastern Beach Road and along the foreshore. Turn around at the 2km marker and continue back along the path on the left-hand side. For the 8km course you will need to complete 2 laps.

Getting there
To help reduce the risk of transmission of COVID 19 participants will be encouraged to physically distance. So, travel to and from the event by private vehicle is being strongly encouraged.

Car parking is available in the vicinity either free or at minimal cost. Please refer to local maps for specific details.

Public transport
Buses 1, 101, 30, 32, 40, GEELONG-MELBOURNE and train line NHILL - MELBOURNE VIA ARARAT & BALLARAT have transport routes which pass near Eastern Beach, Geelong. Please confirm availability and frequency via local public transport providers or apps. If public transport is used participants are reminded to adhere to the COVID safe rules at the time. This includes wearing a mask and socially distancing where possible.

First aid
All MDC Local Locations will have a qualified first aid officer on site. First aid will be located at the location event arrival site.

Food & drink
BYO water in reusable bottles, use any available water dispensers at the site, no water stations will be provided.
Please bring your own snacks and support your local food and beverage businesses on your way to the site and/or on your way home.

All public areas in the municipality have been designated as being 'on-leash' for the purposes of dogs, except where otherwise signed or specified. The great news is that there are plenty of places where you can take your dog off-leash, as long as they are under direct supervision (please refer to local websites for specific details re off-leash areas)

COVIDSafe statement: This event will be conducted in accordance with all COVIDSafe requirements and practices as determined by the state health department. A COVIDSafe checklist/plan has been completed for this event to ensure the safety of all participants.

MDC Local 

While this year will look a little different, you’ll still be able to dress up, complete your walk/run, honour those touched by breast cancer and enjoy the community spirit on the day. All you need to do is bring along your race pack (which will be delivered to your door beforehand), arrive at your assigned time, use your phone to scan the QR code at your location and complete one or two laps of the course. Don’t forget to share your happy snaps and tag #mdc2021!
