COURSE
ADDITIONAL INFO
You must be at least 16 years of age on the day of the Event to participate in the 21.1km distance.
Each person can register for one Half Marathon ticket only, and the registration must be completed by the participant themselves.
The course ends in the Mother's Day Classic event village with access to entertainment, activities and food/drinks after your run.
Look out for The Langham, Melbourne bag drop in the event village – available to store your belongings.

Bibs and timing
All MDC Melbourne Half Marathon participants will receive a race bib with an official timing chip.
Accessibility
The safety of all participants is our highest priority. Due to course conditions including the number of participants, traffic management, tight corners, terrain, and associated safety requirements the MDC Melbourne Half Marathon course is not suitable for racing wheelchairs.
Participants who wish to complete the event using a day wheelchair or pram are welcome to enter the 6:50am Half Marathon wave. For safety, we kindly ask that you start at the back of the group.
Before registering, please carefully consider the following:
Course Cut-Offs
- All participants must meet the overall course cut-off times.
- The Melbourne Half Marathon cut-off time is 3 hours from the closure of the start line.
- Please note that course cut-offs are subject to change.
Course Conditions
- Elevation, density, terrain, and surfaces vary across the course.
- Some sections may traverse on public land, which may be more challenging depending on individual ability.
- We strongly recommend reviewing the full course in advance to assess its suitability for your participation.
Fundraising
We’re asking all MDC Melbourne Half Marathon participants to pledge to raise a minimum of $500 for breast cancer research, ovarian cancer research or both.

Transferring registrations
If you’re no longer able to take part in the MDC Melbourne Half Marathon, you’re welcome to transfer your spot to a friend for a $15 admin fee, up until Monday 4 May 2026. For everyone’s safety, transfers must be done through the proper process – we’re not able to accept unofficial swaps.

Getting there & road closures
Parking
Limited street parking is available around The Tan due to road closures. Paid parking sites are located around the Arts Centre precinct.
Public transport
By Train
- The closest train station to the Event Village is Flinders Street Station. Disembark at Flinders Street Station and take the Swanston Street exit from the station and turn right. You can also arrive at Richmond Station and walk up Swan Street to the start line.
Cycling to the event
- Bicycle parking will be available onsite. Please bring a lock. We cannot accept responsibility for bikes lost or stolen.
By Tram
- Tram Routes 1, 3/3a, 5, 6, 16, 64, 67 and 72 all travel down St. Kilda Road. Disembark at the Federation Square/Swanston St stop and cross the road to Alexandra Gardens.
- Tram Routes 35, 70 and 75 travel down Swanston Street. Disembark at the Swanston St and Flinders Street stop, cross over St Kilda Road and walk south towards Alexandra Gardens.

On course
Water stations and toilets will be located along the route for use.
Event Village
Toilets will be made available for use within the Event Village.
BYO water in reusable bottles, there is a water refill station within the Event Village.
Coffee and food vendors will be onsite in the Event Village.
